What does the Bible say about hope?

Hope that does not disappoint
Paul says suffering produces endurance, character, and hope, and that hope does not put us to shame because God’s love is poured out (Romans 5:3–5). Romans 8:24–25: we hope for what we do not see, and wait for it. Abraham hopes against hope (Romans 4:18).

A living hope
Peter blesses God for a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus, an inheritance kept in heaven (1 Peter 1:3–5). Hebrews 6:19 calls hope an anchor. The object is Christ’s appearing and the new creation, not a guarantee of ease now.
