Privacy Policy

How Ask Bible handles information when you read, ask, and study.

Last updated: August 12, 2026

Overview

Ask Bible (“we,” “us”) provides a Bible reading and study assistant at askbibleai.com. You can use the service without creating an account. This policy explains what information we process and why.

Information we process

Questions and study content. When you use Chat, ask about a passage, generate a reading plan, or request study questions, we process the text you submit so we can retrieve Scripture and commentary and return an answer.

Anonymous session. We set a session cookie so the product can keep chats, reading marks, and related data associated with your browser session. This is not a login and does not require your name or email.

Optional display name. If you add a name on Reading Plans, it is stored locally in your browser for greetings and progress display.

Device and usage data. Like most websites, our hosting and security layers may receive technical data such as IP address, browser type, and request timing. We use IP-based rate limits to reduce abuse. We also use Vercel Analytics and Speed Insights for aggregated traffic and performance metrics.

Browser storage. Highlights, annotations, reading-plan progress, chat drafts, and similar study data may be stored in your browser’s local storage, and some items may sync to our backend under your anonymous session.

How we use information

We use the information above to:

  • Provide answers grounded in Scripture and retrieved commentaries
  • Maintain your session, chats, and reading features
  • Operate, secure, and improve the service
  • Enforce usage limits and prevent abuse
  • Respond when you email us

We do not sell your personal information.

AI and third-party processors

Chat and related study features run on Amazon Web Services (including Amazon Bedrock). Your prompts may be sent to those services to retrieve knowledge-base passages and generate replies. Scripture text may also be fetched from licensed Bible providers (such as YouVersion Platform) when those translations are enabled.

The site is hosted on Vercel. Those providers process data under their own terms and privacy policies as needed to deliver their services.

Cookies

We use an essential session cookie so core features work. Analytics tools may set their own cookies or similar identifiers. You can block non-essential cookies in your browser, though some product features depend on the session cookie and local storage.

Retention

Session-backed data is retained for a limited period so the product can restore your recent activity, then expires according to our backend retention settings. Local browser data remains until you clear it. Server logs and analytics are kept only as long as needed for operations and security.

Children

Ask Bible is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided information to us, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.

Your choices

You can clear site data in your browser to remove local study content and cookies. You can stop using the service at any time. For questions about this policy or a privacy request, email contact@askbibleai.com.

Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of Ask Bible after an update means you accept the revised policy.
